I have been a Document Controller in the Rail industry since late 2000, when I was working for Heathrow Express. For almost two years I acted as the receipt point for Railway Group Standards, Internal Procedures and Accident Reports. I provided reports to tie-up all of these items for monthly safety and performance reporting. I provided structured procedures for the co-ordination of procedure review, their Business Action Plan, and procedure issue management. I developed my own program, "ORATOR", using Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic for Applications automation to implement these procedures. This work formed the basis for systems which I went on to provide for other companies in the Rail sector for document, issue and content management.
